Amelie Guthrie

Amélie Guthrie grew up in New Orleans before studying art history at Vanderbilt University. It was there that her passion for providing art education to children without access to it took root. Over the course of a decade, she taught underserved and unhoused children, primarily in Buenos Aires, New York, and Nashville. Amélie also had the opportunity to work in galleries and studios across London, New York, Rome, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Through these diverse and impactful experiences, Amélie nurtured her own artistic voice. While living in New York City, Amélie created and exhibited her tree-like sculptures in large commissioned installations. She later carried her practice to Rome, where she held a solo exhibition of her work. After returning to the U.S., she lived and exhibited in Nashville before settling back in New Orleans. There, she continues to sculpt and has expanded into large-scale embroidery. Through both mediums, Amélie celebrates the natural world and emphasizes humanity's responsibility to cherish and protect it.
