Delos Van Earl

"I named this series "Viscus" because I wanted to the viewer to have a visceral reaction rather than having to think about what they saw or felt. These pieces have deep lines that are made with tape, string and twine and then twenty layers of paint are applied. Along the way, I embed seeds, twigs, shells and other natural elements that I find here in the California desert. I also use both stained glass and bottle glass that is later sanded along with all the layers of paint until the surface is deconstructed to a nearly smooth surface, that is rich in color and texture."
