Louisa McElwain

Louisa is a en plain air painter, creating all of her work solely outdoors among the landscapes that are the motifs of her paintings. She applies her paint exclusively with palette knives as to allow her to move and adapt with the ever changing scenes around her. "It's like dancing to the tempo of the evolving day. A painting is like frozen choreography, like a ballet that you can see all in one moment. It's made of marks that are gestures made through time to the rhythms of nature. Every day has a different rhythm."
