Joey Lancaster is a self taught artist from Texas. Her medium is plaster on canvas. Her use of an old material is the perfect contrast to her modern choice of subjects. The tinted plaster glides against the canvas without brushes; only trowels. It is layered many times to mimic walls of old, revealing various colors beneath, resulting in a unique backdrop for a modern subject. The unpredictability of the plaster and application result in a perfectly imperfect image of beauty.
