Joey Lancaster

Joey Lancaster is a self-taught artist from Fort Worth, Texas, who fell in love with Aspen trees many years ago.  She has been in the decorative painting world for over 20 years concentrating on French and Italian interiors.  Her medium is plaster on canvas, and her use of an old material is the perfect contrast to her modern choice of subjects.  The hand-tinted plaster is applied with various-sized trowels.  The plaster is laid many times to mimic walls of old, revealing many colors beneath.  This results in a unique backdrop for a modern subject.  The unpredictability of the plaster and application result in a perfectly imperfect image of beauty.
