Marlys & Joe Boddy

Marlys earned her degree in Fine Art from Montana State University where she met and subsequently married her best friend and fellow art major.  After raising a family, publishing books for children, and experimenting in various art forms, Marlys returned to her love of clay and embarked on a career in sculpture.  She began showing her work in 2001 and has since been in numerous exhibitions throughout the country.  Her "one of a kind" ceramic sculptures are created from stoneware clay and fired to 2200 degrees in an electric kiln.  Her sculptures, whether serious or whimsical, focus primarily on emotion and expression. Joe spent much of his youth exploring ways to express himself by making art. This led to a degree in Fine Art from Montana State University and graduate study at the University of Montana.  Joe began his career as a Graphic Designer and Art Director for various advertising agencies across the country and eventually as head of the graphic and promotion department for Lee Enterprises in Missoula. For the past 30 years Joe has worked as a freelance illustrator for major publishing houses and has many children’s book titles to his credit.  His years of working as an illustrator combined with his love of line, texture and color, have strongly influenced his sculpture today.  Joe continues to develop his art while discovering new ways to create using old skills.

Marlys and Joe husband have been able to pursue a life filled with family, friends, and the work and love of creating art.  They are grateful to all their clients and collectors who have made that possible.
